Check the top left corner of your unofficial transcript via the 'Student' menu in Minerva to see your advisor's name.

Academic standing is based on the student’s grade point average (GPA) according to grades obtained from all courses, including those from Field Experience (EDFE) courses.

If you have previously completed undergraduate courses/degree, you may qualify for some advanced standing; however, transfer credits will only be assessed once you successfully transfer. Once finalized, you will receive a cumulative record outlining which courses have been accepted for transfer/equivalency and which courses you will need to take to complete your program. Transfer credits will only be granted for appropriate courses passed with a grade of ‘C’ or better.

June – McGill Pre-Registration Orientation (PRO)

Students enrolled in B.Ed. teacher certification programs are required to complete a total of four field placements. There are no field placements during the Foundation Year (U0).

Students admitted from high school must complete Year 0 (U0), the Foundation Year.

After completing 30 credits of courses in your Foundation (U0) year, you will start following the highly structured Year 1 course plan for your degree B.Ed degree.

International Students in Bachelor of Education programs in addition to the CAQ and Study Permit, must obtain a Co-op/Internship Work Permit issued by Citizenship and Immigration Canada as a requirement for the mandatory Field Experiences. Consult the Internships & Student Affairs office (ISA) for instructions and International Student Services for more information about the permit application. The Education Student Affairs Office will provide you with the letter that is required from your institution as part of the application process. isa.education [at] mcgill.ca (Email) your request using your McGill email address and be sure to provide your McGill ID number. It is important to begin the process of obtaining the Work Permit (Internship) as soon as you accept the offer of admission, as it requires a medical exam, and in the past has taken up to 3 months for CIC to process the application.

Even as a U0 student, you may be eligible for some transfer credits, depending on your previous studies. If you are a newly admitted student, you don't actually apply for transfer credit. On your application to McGill, you must indicate any courses you took at a CEGEP, university or other higher education institution. Visit the Transfer Credit & Advanced Standing website for more information.

Students will be invited to attend registration preparation sessions in June called McGill Pre-Registration Orientation (PRO), where advisors will guide them through the registration process. Until then, please review helpful information and tips on Registering for courses.

Access Minerva to verify your Classification for registration, your program details, and your registration time ticket by going to: Student Menu>Registration Menu>Step 1: Check Your Registration Eligibility and Verify Your Curriculum. Your registration time ticket should correspond to one of the dates in the table on the WHEN to Register page.
