Kinesiology & Physical Education (KPE)

The Department of Kinesiology & Physical Education (KPE) is home to Canada’s longest-running physical education program (EST. 1912) and is dedicated to advancing and translating knowledge about sport, physical activity and human health across the lifespan as well as training leaders of tomorrow through excellence in teaching, research and service. KPE prides itself on innovative teaching and research with global reach, leading to improved health, wellness, and disease prevention.

KPE offers programs at the undergraduate level (B.Ed. and B.Sc.) as well as Master's (M.A. and M.Sc.) and Ph.D. programs exploring various aspects of human movement, physical health, and sports sciences. Researchers and their students collaborate in labs, conducting practical application research in physical and health education, sociology of sports activities, adapted physical activity, sport and exercise psychology, biomechanics and neuroscience, and exercise physiology, among other topics in kinesiology sciences. KPE is also home to the Sylvan Adams Sports Science Institute (SASSI) and to the Kinesiology Clinic.
