Biography: 

Dr. Lobczowski is an Assistant Professor in the Learning Sciences program in the Department of Educational and Counselling Psychology for the Faculty of Education at McGill University. Previously she was a Postdoctoral Associate at the Learning, Research, and Development Center (LRDC) at The University of Pittsburgh and at the Human-Computer Interaction Institute (HCII) at Carnegie Mellon University. She graduated with a Ph.D. in Education from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, with a specialization in the Learning Sciences and Psychological Studies. Her dissertation, Building from the Inside Out: The Formation and Regulation of Emotions in Collaborative Learning, received the 2021 Paul R. Pintrich Outstanding Dissertation Award from Division 15 of the American Psychological Association.

Dr. Lobczowski’s research focuses on designing and studying context-sensitive interventions for collaborative settings that incorporate cutting-edge technologies and analytic methods using a social regulation of learning framework. Her recent work involves investigating the dyadic differences that impact collaborative learning, examining emotional regulation strategies in a project-based learning environment, creating a theoretical model of the formation and regulation of emotions in collaborative learning, and designing technologies to support students and teachers in secondary school math contexts.
