The purpose of the Win4Science Caregiver Travel Award program is to:

  • Provide financial assistance to ANY STEM trainee (graduate student or postdoctoral fellow) with significant caregiver responsibilities (including caring for a child, parent, or grandparent) that prevent them from attending conferences, speaker engagements, or job interviews. The intent is to provide funding to accommodate additional arrangements associated with caretaking that are needed to attend job interviews, conferences, or speaker engagements.
  • Award value will range up to $1000 based on need and availability of funds.

Eligible expenses may include:

  • Third party dependent care services for the duration of the conference
  • Travel costs for a designated caregiver
  • Daily allowance for designated caregiver
  • Travel costs for baby/dependent and related accommodations

Number of awards: variable

Eligibility:

Applicants must be graduate students or postdoctoral fellows with significant caregiver responsibilities in a STEM discipline in the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences at McGill University that will or have:

  • applied to present original work in a poster or oral presentation at a conference
  • the need to travel in order to attend a job interview
