myPath

myPath logomyPath is a toolkit that provides students and postdocs with ways to identify their goals and create an Individual Development Plan (IDP). Think of your IDP as a tailored roadmap that guides you from where you are now to where you want to be. An IDP not only plots your academic goals, but also your personal aspirations and professional/career objectives.

An IDP helps students to:

  • Assess your skills and identify areas for professional development.
  • Articulate your personal needs for wellbeing and success.
  • Identify your annual priorities and select aligned academic, personal, and professional goals.
  • Establish an action plan for how you will achieve your goals and/or adapt when necessary.
  • Track your progress towards your goals.

Your needs and interests will change over time, so it is important to revisit your IDP every 6 to 12 months. Creating your IDP is part of an iterative cycle: Essentially, the IDP is a tool used to encourage the repetitive process of reflection, defining goals, setting specific objectives, and taking action.
