  • Employ a comprehensive approach to assessing and helping patients manage chronic pain and risk

  • Perform a pain assessment integrating the relevant components from the history and physical exam (and measures/scales)
  • Recall the different types of pain (nociceptive, neuropathic and nociplastic)

  • Develop an approach to goal setting when discussing pain treatments / strategies with patients

  • Appreciate the evidence base behind cannabinoids

  • Diagnose migraine headache
  • Identify 3 risk factors for headache chronicity
  • Be familiar with headache guidelines

Fibromyalgia

  • Be aware of the 2012 Canadian Fibromyalgia Guidelines and the updated 2019 FM Diagnostic Criteria
  • Recall and describe the maladaptive neuroplasticity underlying FM
  • Confident and able to promote active management strategies for patients with FM
