Geneviève Auclair wins High Distinction Award from the Collège des Médecins du Québec

The College des Médecins du Québec has honoured Geneviève Auclair, a family physician in the Department of Family Medicine, with a High Distinction Award.

Dr. Geneviève Auclair has been practicing family medicine in Quebec's far north region for over 16 years. Since 2015, she has been heading the Nunavik Regional Department of General Medicine. In this capacity, Dr. Auclair is responsible for medical recruitment for the entire region. Although shortage issues are perpetual in this corner of the country, in 2017, Dr. Auclair received the Meritorious Service Medal from the Government of Canada, for a campaign she spearheaded that included recruiting care specialists to Nunavik's Inuulitsivik Health Center.

On a day-to-day basis, Dr. Auclair faces many challenges that are difficult to compare with those experienced elsewhere in the Quebec healthcare network. Over the past few years, Dr. Auclair has raised her voice in the media to denounce social, medical and systemic racism issues in Nunavik.

Congratulation Dr. Auclair!
