General Practice Residency Program with an emphasis on Geriatric Dental Medicine and Special Care Dental Medicine – applications close on November 5, 2023 at 11:59 p.m. EST

The GPR program at the Jewish General Hospital provides advanced education in general dentistry with an emphasis on providing dental care adapted to the needs of the elderly and individuals who are neurodiverse or have an intellectual disability.

The Jewish General Hospital is an acute care hospital providing tertiary care. It is a member of CIUSSS West-Central Montreal, an integrated healthcare network which includes long-term care facilities (CHSLD), local community service centres (CLSC), and rehabilitation hospitals and centres.

One candidate will be selected for the 12-month program beginning in July 2024. A minimum of three days per week of clinical activities will be based at the Jewish General Hospital. One to two days per week will involve rotations in dental clinics in CHSLDs and CLSCs. In addition to the clinical experience, the program will provide a didactic component of seminars and literature review of various disciplines in dental medicine with a focus on the management of geriatric patients and individuals who are neurodiverse or have an intellectual disability.

Priority will be given to candidates who have completed a multidisciplinary dental residency program who wish to expand their knowledge and experience in general dentistry and have a particular interest in providing care to vulnerable patient populations. Applicants with a geriatric certificate from Quebec can apply to this program. The successful candidate must be motivated for a significant amount of independent learning.
