Examination Review Policy

  • A student has 7 calendar days following a grade-release notification email to ask to review an examination. This is done by replying to that email with your request to review the exam.
  • If you request a review and do not show up, you have thereby relinquished your right to review the exam.
  • A student who does not ask to review his/her examination within 7 calendar days of receiving his/her mark will forfeit the right to review the exam.
  • Exam reviews are not class review sessions and the instructor is not present at an exam review.
  • No more than thirty minutes is permitted for the review.  Students must have their McGill ID in order to review their exams.  Students who arrive late will not be given extra time.
  • The student may not bring any material such as smart phones, iWatches, tablets, iPads, paper or food to the exam review.
  • Nothing is permitted to be on your person or placed on the desk other than a Laptop (or your paper exam), blank sheet of paper, and a pen which are all provided to you for the review.  You may use the blank sheet to leave comments for the course instructor/director which will be sent to them once the review session is concluded.
  • Upon leaving the exam review, the student must return all material and documents including the sheet of paper whether it has been used or not.
  • Exam decorum is observed and enforced by the invigilators.
  • Such expectations for decorum include but are not limited to: the prohibition of communication amongst students, transmission devices, and the observation of the Faculty of Dental Medicine and Oral Health Sciences Professionalism Standard. Students are not to refer to their notes or text books during the exam review.
