Clinical Integration Groups (CIG's)

BATSHAW YOUTH AND FAMILY CENTRES
SEXUAL ABUSE CLINICAL INTEGRATION GROUP (CIG)

The BYFC Clinical Integration Group (CIG) on Sexual Abuse has been in operation since 2007. It is comprised of BYFC staff members from various sectors of service delivery, as well as individuals from the McGill Centre for Research on Children and Families, the Montreal Children’s Hospital, and Centre d’expertise Marie-Vincent. Members share a particular interest in sexual abuse as an important clinical issue that affects the well-being of some of the children and families we serve. The overall purpose of a CIG is to promote within BYFC the development and integration of knowledge into clinical practice. Sources of knowledge include literature, research findings, clinical experience as well as administrative data. There is also a CIG in operation on the issue of Conjugal Violence.

Members meet approximately every 6 weeks to discuss issues related to sexual abuse, read research literature, produce clinical summaries of the literature, and stay informed as to the available resources for victims, families and professionals. Case Consultations are also available to BYFC staff which are intended to inform and support workers and their managers rather than to be a substitute for clinical supervision.
