OI remains largely unknown to healthcare pro viders\, which can cause significant ethical concerns in children’s OI car e. Researchers have shown that using play can support children’s efforts t o process and discuss their experiences. Children from Shriners Hospitals for Children-Canada collaboratively created a play called “The Hospital of Unhappy Surprises” detailing “bad” hospital environments and children’s v ision for an ideal practice. The aim of our study is to create a professio nally animated version of 'The Hospital of Unhappy Surprises' with the glo bal OI community. We used ethno-dramatic storytelling to elicit children’s voices and transform oppressive scenarios into liberating ones. Children participated in semi-structured\, online interviews using print-out puppet s where they were shown a preliminary staging of the play\, invited to exp ress their experiences\, and act out scenes\, permitting the fictional por trayal of their lived experiences. Data from child interviews will be pres ented to key stakeholders (i.e.\, Advisory Council) comprised of the OI co mmunity (e.g.\, decision-makers\, clinicians\, advocates)\, parents of OI- affected children\, and former OI child patients to develop the final scri pt. The research team will then collaborate with professional artists to e ncase the findings in an evocative\, high-quality and impactful final prod uct.\n DTSTART:20240410T160000Z DTEND:20240410T170000Z SUMMARY:Research Seminar with Argerie Tsimicalis & Jenny Wang\, Ingram Scho ol of Nursing: Envisioning child-friendly care using puppet theatre: Metho dological approach and preliminary findings URL:https://www.mcgill.ca/crcf/channels/event/research-seminar-argerie-tsim icalis-jenny-wang-ingram-school-nursing-envisioning-child-friendly-care-35 3408 END:VEVENT END:VCALENDAR
