Federal Government Career & Networking Trip

A collaboration between CaPS, MAA & PGSS

 

Interested in exploring career opportunities within the federal government? Please join us for our second annual federal government career tour in Ottawa-Gatineau, where you will have the opportunity to hear about career paths in the public sector, and network with hiring managers. This will be an exclusive opportunity to network with government officials. Special emphasis will be placed on public service renewal and the programs geared towards student employment.

Your trip includes:

  • All meeting arrangements and transportation by deluxe coach bus.
  • Pre-departure workshop on CV writing and networking.
  • Two days of meetings with 4 Federal government departments providing an overview of their programs and policies.
  • A networking evening with McGill Alumni in related fields.

Schedule:

  • Thursday, January 7
    • 5-6:30pm - Pre-departure Workshop on CV Writing and Networking
  • Thursday, January 14
    • 9-12 - Meeting at Indigenous and Northern Affairs Canada (Gatineau)
    • 12-1 - Lunch
    • 1-4 - Meeting at Public Safety Canada (Ottawa)
    • 5:30-7:30 - Networking evening with McGill alumni in related fields (Crowne Plaza Gatineau-Ottawa)
  • Friday, January 15
    • 9-12 - Meeting Employment and Social Development Canada (Gatineau)
    • 12-1 - Lunch
    • 1-4 - Meeting at Global Affairs Canada (Ottawa)

Logistics:

  • Departure: from Thomson House Wednesday, January 13th at 6:30pm
  • Return to Montreal, Friday, January 15th at approximately 8:00pm
  • Lodging: 2 nights at the Crowne Plaza Gatineau-Ottawa (crowneplaza.com/gatineauottawa)
  • Transportation: Deluxe coach bus

Cost (all taxes included):

  • Option 1: Participation, Transportation, and Accommodation: starting at $240, based on double occupancy
  • Option 2: Participation and Transportation: $85 per person (you find your own accommodation)
