SIS Welcomes 2 students as part of the Indigenous Student Librarian program.

The School of Information Studies is happy to announce 2 students Chloe Belair-Morin and Sarah Monnier as part of the Indigenous Student Librarian program. This programs offers a tuition waiver to an Indigenous student as well as part time employment as a student librarian or archivist at Concordia Library. The program is a partnership between McGill, Concordia and Univesité de Montreal

Chloe Belair-Morin is from the Kitigan Zibi Anishinabeg community. She is pursuing a Master of Information Studies at McGill University, where she also completed her bachelor degree with a double major in Art History and English Literature. Her prior experience includes a position at the McGill Redpath Museum and work as a Museum Database Assistant for the McGill Visual Arts Collection. Chloe has a strong interest in the maintenance and preservation of artworks and documents.

Sarah Monnier is Ojibwe woman and a proud member of Lac Seul First Nation. She is pursuing a Master of Information Studies at McGill University. In 2018, she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts (honours) degree from Queen’s University majoring in history and minoring in English Language and Literature. She has prior experience working in several archives, special collections, and small museums, including at Queen’s University archive, and the private archives of Sisters of Providence of St. Vincent de Paul. In April 2020, Sarah completed the RBC Indigenous Internship Program at the Canadian Museum of History in Ottawa. During her time at Concordia, she would like to gain experience to foster indigenous approaches to librarianship and archival studies. In the future, she hopes to work with indigenous communities in preserving oral history traditions and curating indigenous material through digital heritage management projects.
