March 14 - April 29, 2022 | Vaccine passport system remains in effect at Library & public access reinstated

Published: 11 March 2022

The McGill Library continues to align its branch activities with general McGill directives outlined in the allnote sent out to McGill students, faculty and staff dated Thursday March 10. An excerpt from the message reads:

The Government of Quebec has announced that it expects to lift most remaining restrictions over the next month. This includes the removal of vaccine passports, lifting of capacity limits in bars and restaurants, and removing masking directives in most public places.

After living with restrictions for more than two years, it may take time for some of us to adjust to these changes. As a result, we have made the decision to keep most of our COVID-related measures in place for the rest of the Winter 2022 term. Although many people are anxious to drop restrictions as quickly as possible, we ask that you tolerate them a little longer to help everyone feel more comfortable. By easing into any major changes, McGill will remain a safe campus community, committed to delivering a world-class, in-person learning experience...

For the remainder of the Winter term, vaccine passport verification will still be required for many non-essential activities at McGill. We will continue to evaluate this system and will be sure to inform our community if we determine that any changes will be made.

Taking this into account, from Monday, March 14 to the end of Winter term (Friday, April 29, 2022), members of the McGill community can access Library spaces by showing an authorized Quebec vaccine passport and accompanying valid ID (e.g. McGill ID, driver’s license, medicare card, etc.). The Fast-Pass sticker can continue to be used during this period. Members of the public who have an authorized Quebec vaccine passport and accompanying valid ID (e.g. driver’s license, medicare card, etc.) will be able to access Library spaces at this time.

Please note that procedural masks are required in all Library spaces even if you are adequately vaccinated.
