 2019 Beatty Lecture
Dr. Jane Goodall:
Journey from the Jungle

Dr. Jane Goodall, one of the world’s most influential and beloved advocates for nature conservation, will deliver the 2019 Beatty Lecture at McGill University on Thursday, September 26, from 5:30 pm to 7:00 pm.

Tickets for alumni, students and the public will go on sale on August 15 at noon through an online ticket system that will be linked to from this webpage at that time. The ticket price is $10 per person, a maximum of four tickets per order. All tickets are for general admission, there is no assigned seating. The Lecture will take place at the Homecoming Tent, McGill Lower Campus, West Field (845 Sherbrooke Street).

Forty years after her first Beatty lecture in 1979, Dr. Goodall returns to talk about the critical need for environmental stewardship and the power each individual has to bring about change. In the history of the Beatty Lecture, Dr. Goodall is the only lecturer who has been invited to deliver the Beatty banner a second time.

Equipped with little more than a notebook, binoculars and a passionate interest in wildlife, Jane Goodall ventured into the forests of Tanzania nearly sixty years ago to begin her ground-breaking research on chimpanzees. Since that time, Dr. Goodall has not only impressed upon the world the urgent need to protect chimpanzees from extinction; she has also helped redefine species conservation to include the needs of local people and the environment. Today she travels the globe 300 days a year, speaking about the threats facing chimpanzees and environmental crises, urging each of us to take action on behalf of all living creatures and the planet we share.
