A topical conversation with the Hon. Allan Rock on (i) the crisis in international humanitarian law and the extent to which it is being ignored with impunity in so many conflicts; (ii) in the age of Trump and in the face of populism and xenophobia, can the liberal international world order survive? Professor Frédéric Mégret will be the discussant.

About the Speaker

The Hon. Allan Rock is President Emeritus of the University of Ottawa, and a Professor in its Faculty of Law, where he teaches International Humanitarian Law (the Law of Armed Conflict) and Appellate Advocacy. He was Minister of Justice and Attorney General of Canada (1993-97), Minister of Health (1997-2002) and Minister of Industry and Infrastructure (2002-03). He also served as Canadian Ambassador to the United Nations.
