ISID congratulates Professor Jacob Blanc on his new book, "The Prestes Column"

Professor Jacob Blanc of the Institute for the Study of International Development and the Department of History has had a new book published with Duke University Press.  In The Prestes Column, Jacob Blanc offers a new interpretation of the legendary rebellion, in which a band of rebel officers and soldiers marched fifteen thousand miles through the vast interior regions of Brazil between 1924 and 1927.

Welcoming Rohinton Medhora to ISID

The Institute for the Study of International Development welcomes Rohinton P. Medhora as its most recent Professor of Practice. Rohinton Medhora is a distinguished fellow and former president of the Centre for International Governance Innovation (2012–2022). He also served on CIGI’s International Board of Governors from 2009 to 2014. Previously, he was vice president of programs at Canada’s International Development Research Centre (IDRC).

New Policy Brief! Climate Adapation in Africa: Locally Led and Nature Based Solutions

Climate change continues to cause damage in Africa. It triggers food insecurity, poverty and displacement. The impacts of climate change are being exacerbated by rapid urbanization, geopolitical tensions, headwinds caused by the invasion of Ukraine and its impacts on agricultural exports and fertilizers.
