Susanne Lajoie at the National Assembly as New Member of l'Ordre de l'excellence en éducation

Minister of Education, Bernard Drainville, and Minister of Higher Education, Pascale Déry, inducted the 25 new members of the Ordre de l'excellence en éducation at an official ceremony at the National Assembly on May 29th recognizing these new inductees for their contribution to education.

McGill Faculty of Education is pleased to congratulate Professor Susanne Lajoie who was inducted as a Senior Fellow of The Order. A Professor in the Department of Educational and Counselling Psychology and Canada Research Chair in Advanced Technologies for Learning in Authentic Settings, Lajoie works at the intersection of psychology, education, and computer science, designing technology-rich learning environments that encourage deep and sustained learning. She has contributed to the development of more than 20 technological innovations to enhance learning and teaching across all age groups and institutional contexts, both nationally and internationally.

"We are fortunate in Quebec to be able to count on such inspiring education professionals. It is partly thanks to them that we can see our young people blossom and become important players in society. I thank them for their commitment and dedication,” said Pascale Déry, Minister of Higher Education, of the new members. Since its inception in 2018, The Order now has 130 members.

M^me Susanne Lajoie a marqué l’avancement des connaissances mondiales en matière d’intelligence artificielle, d’éducation et de sciences cognitives. Son but : concevoir des environnements technologiques qui encouragent un apprentissage collaboratif, profond et soutenu. Au cours de sa carrière, cette chercheuse avant-gardiste a contribué à plus de 20 innovations technologiques qui ont amélioré les pratiques éducatives auprès de tous les groupes d’âge et dans tous les contextes institutionnels, ici comme ailleurs. Ses projets Sherlock, SAFARI, Telelearning, DIVA et Bioworld sont édifiants! Psychologie, éducation, médecine et sciences de l’information : elle a conçu des techniques de simulation de raisonnement et de résolution de problèmes scientifiques multidisciplinaires pour le moins riches. À la tête du projet Apprendre à travers les disciplines, elle a collaboré avec des équipes de recherche internationales venant de 6 pays, 17 universités et 16 organisations partenaires. Sa contribution et sa réputation d’excellence ont été honorées, entre autres, par la Société royale du Canada, l’American Psychological Association, l’American Educational Research Association et l’Acfas. Des salles de classe du primaire à l’université, dans les établissements publics comme en entreprise, les réalisations de M^me Lajoie sont toujours synonymes de progrès!
