Prof. Vikram Bhatt inducted into Royal Society of Canada

Prof. Vikram Bhatt is one of nine McGill researchers and scholars out of a total of 93 new Fellows inducted into the Royal Society of Canada (RSC). Established in 1883, the RSC consists of over 2,000 Fellows who have been selected by their peers for outstanding contributions to the natural and social sciences, arts and humanities. The 2019 Fellows and Members will be welcomed into the RSC this November, in Ottawa, during the RSC’s Celebration of Excellence and Engagement. The presentation of RSC Medals and Award will also take place along with multiple opportunities to learn about and discuss the latest research results. The official announcement for the 2019 Medal and Award Winners will be released September 17 on the RSC website. (Full McGill Reporter article.)

From the RSC Class of 2019 citation: “Vikram Bhatt is an internationally recognized expert in the field of sustainable housing and human settlements design. His action research and practical interventions are affordable and culturally appropriate. His pioneering work on edible landscapes and urban agriculture has focused on food security and successfully transformed neighborhoods and cities around the globe improving lives of ordinary people.”
