Moshe Safdie donates his professional archive to McGill

Students at the Peter Guo-hua Fu School of Architecture now have access to the most extensive collection of architecture archives in Canada. The archive of Moshe Safdie, and his four-module Habitat ’67 condo, was gifted to McGill. C. Colleen Cook, McGill’s Trenholme Dean of Libraries, says that student engagement with primary materials inspires fresh examination, perspectives, and discussion.

The archive offers multiple opportunities for students, researchers, and architects to investigate both the building projects of Moshe Safdie, and the humanistic underpinnings behind his philosophy and approach. This wonderful gift will live on for generations of McGill students.

Moshe Safdie fait don de sa collection d’archives professionnelles à l’Université McGill

Les étudiants de l’École d’architecture Peter Guo-hua Fu ont désormais accès à la plus importante collection d’archives d’architecture au Canada. En effet, les archives de Moshe Safdie et de son renommé complexe résidentiel de quatre modules, Habitat ‘67, ont été offertes à l’Université. Selon C. Colleen Cook, doyenne de la bibliothèque Trenholme de McGill, le fait de pouvoir consulter des documents originaux inspire aux étudiants des analyses, des perspectives et des réflexions nouvelles.

Ces archives vont permettre aux étudiants, aux chercheurs et aux architectes de découvrir non seulement les travaux de construction de Moshe Safdie, mais aussi les principes humanistes qui sous-tendent sa philosophie et son approche. Ce précieux legs profitera aux générations futures d’étudiants à McGill.
