Dr. Samir Shaheen-Hussain’s book “Fighting for a Hand to Hold”, was reviewed by Margo Greenwood in an article entitled "An open invitation to address anti-Indigenous systemic racism" in the ‘Perspectives’ section of the prestigious medical journal The Lancet.

Dr. Shaheen-Hussain’s book describes the colonial systems underlying the longstanding practice of medical evacuations without parental accompaniment of Indigenous children in Quebec– a practice that his advocacy efforts helped to finally change.
