Dr. James Archibald in the International Organization for Standardization (ISO)

Dr. James Archibald has been appointed to the ISO/TC 37 mirror committee on language and terminology in The Standards Council of Canada. The Standards Council of Canada is the Canadian arm of the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and the ISO/TC 37 has published internationally recognized standards on a variety of translation-related issues and technologies.

Dr. Archibald is the former Director of the School’s Department of Translation and Written Communication. In 2003, he was made a Chevalier in the Ordre des Palmes Académiques, and in 2008 he received the Francis W. Weeks Award of Merit from the Association for Business Communication, an honour recognizing his contribution to the profession.

In his new appointment, he will join members from thirty-four different countries on developing of 24 new standards in translation and terminology management to improve multilingual communication.
