CFI Grant Awarded to Sara Ahmed and Team

Published: 17 November 2017

Dr. Sarah Ahmed and her team, including SPOT researchers Dr. Philippe Archambault, Dr. Anouk Lamontagne, and Dr. Annette Majnemer, have been awarded a Canadian Foundation of Innovation (CFI) award for their project titled “BRILLIANT-Rehab: Biomedical Research & Informatics Living Laboratory for Innovative Advances of New Technologies in Community Mobility Rehabilitation.” Bringing together researchers from both McGill and the University of Montreal, the vision of the BRILLIANT Rehab program is to optimize mobility of persons with acquired brain injury (ABI) across the lifespan. The program will develop and deploy a comprehensive clinical and community based mobility monitoring system to evaluate the factors that result in poor mobility, and develop personalized mobility interventions optimized for specific patient sub-groups. These innovations will be used by front-line clinicians to deliver cost-effective care. It’s known as the right intervention to the right person at the right time and accounts for long-term functional potential and meaningful participation in the community.
