About Nicolette Papastefanou

Nicolette has more than 17 years’ experience teaching and researching public relations and communication, first at the Tshwane University of Technology in South Africa and now at McGill University in Montreal. Her teaching experience spans from first year to PhD level, while her research has been published and presented at several international conferences, during which she was awarded two best paper awards. Her key areas of research focus are virtual organizations, systems-based theories, public relations strategy and communication.

During her time at the Tshwane University of Technology, Nicolette acted as Head of Department for the Department of Public Relations and Business Communication in 2009 and was named the “Junior Researcher of the Year: Faculty of Humanities” in 2011. In 2007, she was nominated as one of CEO Magazine’s Most Influential Woman in Business (in the category Government and Education [South Africa]). She obtained a PhD in public relations/strategic communication in 2008 at the Tshwane University of Technology.
