UNDERSTANDING AND NAVIGATING DEMENTIA

Free online lecture for healthcare professionals

This lecture, offered by the McGill University Dementia Education Program in collaboration with Altfest Personal Wealth Management, is aimed at family physicians, geriatricians, neurologists, psychiatrists, nurses, social workers and occupational therapists who would like to gain a deeper understanding of neurocognitive disorders.

Dr. José Morais and Mrs. Claire Webster are two of the senior authors of the World Alzheimer Reports for 2021, Journey through the diagnosis of dementia, and 2022, Life after diagnosis: Navigating treatment, care and support. They will share highlights from the reports, including research and best practices on post-diagnostic management and support following a diagnosis of a neurogenerative disorder.

• Recognize the role of informal caregivers in the management of dementia and the ripple effect on their health and wellbeing.
• Identify best practices for informal caregiver to manage challenging behaviors, ensure the safety of their family members and access support services.

This program meets the accreditation criteria as defined by the Maintenance of Certification program of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and has been accredited by the Office of Continuing Professional Development, Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, McGill University for up to 1 (one) Section 1 credits/hours. Through an agreement between the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and the American Medical Association, physicians may convert Royal College MOC credits to AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™.
