McGill raises over $400,000 for Centraide

Thanks to all who contributed to the 2023 campaign’s success!

The results are in, and they’re outstanding: the McGill community raised $413,422 for Centraide in just over a month, at the end of 2023.

McGillians contributed to the campaign through donations, pay roll deductions, and activities held on campus from November 13 to December 22.

The campaign’s co-chairs, Martha Crago and Anja Geitmann, praised the entire McGill community.

“Even in uncertain times, McGill’s community has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to helping Montrealers in need through generous donations to the 2023 McGill Centraide Campaign,” says Crago, Vice-President (Research and Innovation). “We wholeheartedly appreciate your support, including the contributions of those who volunteered their time and energy to organizing fundraising activities. Thank you all for participating in Centraide’s mission to serve society and build inclusive communities—a mission to which McGill also aspires.”

“As the economic context makes the needs of our communities more pressing than ever, especially for its most vulnerable members, our university has once again answered the call to generously make a significant difference in the lives of many,” says Geitmann, Interim Vice-President (Global Engagement). “I am profoundly grateful to the entire McGill community for its ongoing dedication to supporting Centraide’s vital work in our city, and for all their efforts in building a more just, equitable society.”

All campaign donations will be invested locally to address the challenges of poverty and exclusion and to help Montrealers in need.

“We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the McGill community for their outstanding campaign in support of Centraide, raising funds that will benefit 375 organizations,” says Côme Bardi de Fourtou, Philanthropic Development Consultant for the Centraide campaign. “Thank you for your generosity and commitment to making a positive impact in our community.”

McGill hosted 25 fundraising activities on campus in less than two months. Those initiatives alone raised nearly $10,000.

“I’m amazed at the generosity, the creativity, and the enthusiasm people put into this campaign,” says Colleen Parish, McGill Centraide Campaign Manager. “Kudos to all who gave their time to organize the events, to everyone who participated, and to all who donated.”
