Homework Zone

Homework Zone (HZ) is an after-school mentoring program connecting McGill University student volunteers with elementary school students in under-served neighbourhoods of Montréal. McGill students volunteer in schools from the Lester B. Pearson and English Montréal school boards.

How HZ Works

At HZ, we create an oasis for students where they can challenge themselves and nurture positive relationships within the school environment. The first half of each 90-minute HZ session is dedicated to academic support (ie; homework completion, problem solving, reading), with the second portion focused on imagination-based and academic enrichment activities or workshops offered by McGill students or community groups that focus on creativity, expression and building relationships.

McGill University is on land that long served as a site of meeting and exchange amongst
Indigenous peoples, including the Haudenosaunee and Anishinabeg nations. We acknowledge
and thank the diverse Indigenous people whose footsteps have marked this territory on which
peoples of the world now gather.
